There have been numerous forms of opinions based around the following statement “Graphic novels display better narrative features and elements than a traditional novel”. The real question is does it or does it not? Firstly, Graphic novels is known as one of the most thrilling forms of storytelling used throughout many schools and for educational purposes for young adolescence. In addition it is known for its combination of text and art which forms creative expressions and complex narratives. The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate that graphic novels display better narrative features and elements than a traditional novel as this thesis will discuss its unique features, its emergence as a distinct form and the use of texts which utilize the features to create meaning.
