Themes are what can bring together or destroy things

Themes are what can bring together or destroy things. Themes are what sets the background and the mood. One quote that sets the theme is “We’ve all had to rewrite the scripts of our lives the last few weeks.” This quote shows the theme of change. The word theme means an idea that recurs in or pervades a work of art or literature. In tomorrow a recurring theme is change and adaptation. John Marsden’s novel, Tomorrow When The war Began is about the lives of seven teenagers during the invasion of Australia. In this novel there are lots of themes with even more messages to the reader. The theme of change is quite a wide one, It focuses on many things like the survival of the teens, town and the development characters personalities and traits where characters like homer and ellie take on more serious personalities people like chris keeps that childish innocence throughout the novel. John Marsden is really smart and subtle changing the theme as the themes transition. For example the main characters are just kids at the start and go to an average high school and live average boring lives. Towards the end they had also acknowledged and accepted the fact that their lives will never be the same. Marsden also suttaly tweaked the settings of Wirrawee to show change. We saw Wirrawee as a dull small cramped place in the middle of nowhere. An example of this is when a house was blown up. “The house came apart in slow motion. Bricks, wood, galvanised iron, glass, furniture, all exploding and messily going everywhere. From this, we can depict that Wirrawee which was once a quite, dull and serene place and is now a place of complete and utter destruction.
