Have you ever heard someone say “It’s on the inside of the person that matters the most”? It seems like every parent, teacher, coach or counselor will tell this to their children. This famous phrase has a word for it called; Empathy. Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings with others. In the Novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus shows Empathy throughout the whole novel. Atticus sets examples toward the African Americans, the poor ones or less fortunate ones of Maycomb County, or the ones against him in the trial help Atticus teach his children the skill of Empathy.
